The Jewish Women’s Archive (JWA) is pleased to present the fifth year of the Rising Voices Fellowship. The Fellowship is open to female-identified high school students who have a passion for writing, a demonstrated concern for current events, a commitment to improving their writing skills, and a strong interest in Judaism—particularly as it relates to issues of gender and equality. The fourteen 2017-2018 fellows were selected through a competitive application process that this year had the most number of applicants in the history of the Fellowship. The selected fellows are a pluralistic group from all across the country.
Meet Minnah Stein: 2017-2018 Rising Voices Fellowship Recipient
Minnah Stein is a rising senior at Pine View. She is a passionate activist and feminist who is committed to practicing Tikkun Olam (a Jewish concept defined by acts of kindness performed to perfect or repair the world). She founded EMPOWERU to take on issues important to teens. She serves on the advisory board of Stop Sexual Assault in Schools and the Community Youth Development board. She is a member of her school’s speech and debate team where she competes nationally. She volunteers at Girls Inc. to encourage girls to be strong, smart and bold. Minnah enjoys reading and playing her ukulele and banjo. She is a 2017 recipient of the prestigious Anne Frank Humanitarian Award.
